Da Lat and Bangkok are leading the list of the most popular domestic and international destinations for Vietnamese travelers this September 2, according to recent data from Booking.com.
The Netherlands-based booking platform announced on August 13 a ranking of the top 10 domestic destinations favored by Vietnamese tourists during the upcoming holiday. The rankings were compiled based on searches, bookings, and check-ins made from August 31 to September 3.
In preparation for the extended holiday, Vietnamese tourists are leaning towards experiences that offer both relaxation and adventure. Da Lat tops the list, praised for its stunning natural scenery, French colonial architecture, cool climate, serene atmosphere, and delicious local cuisine. These qualities have made Da Lat the most visited destination by Vietnamese tourists on National Day for five consecutive years. Another mountainous retreat, Sa Pa, shares similar attractions and has also made it into the top 10 this year.
Other popular domestic spots include Da Nang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hanoi, and Hue. Notably, Phan Thiet is a newcomer to the rankings, likely boosted by the opening of the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet Expressway, which has made the region more accessible and reduced travel times.
For international travel, with the holiday period lasting only four days, Asia-Pacific destinations are the preferred choice for Vietnamese tourists. Bangkok, Thailand, is the most sought-after city, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, Bali, and Chiang Mai. These cities are known for their vibrant atmospheres, diverse experiences, rich culinary scenes, and convenient shopping options. Additionally, they are well-connected by frequent flights, making them ideal for short trips.
Varun Grover, Country Manager for Vietnam at Booking.com, noted that the September 2 holiday provides an opportunity for families to spend quality time together before the new school year begins. This year’s travel trends indicate that Vietnamese tourists are seeking vacations that combine cultural exploration with relaxation at mountain resorts and sunny beaches.
